Aircraft Sheet Metal Worker / Structures Mechanic
Position Overview
Medavia is seeking a skilled and dedicated Aircraft Sheet Metal Worker / Structures Mechanic to perform inspection, maintenance, modification, and repair of aircraft airframes and structural components in accordance with approved maintenance data, aviation regulations, and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine structural maintenance, inspection, and repair tasks on aircraft during base and line maintenance.
- Assess structural and corrosion damage, carrying out appropriate repair methods as defined in the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) and other approved maintenance documentation.
- Read and interpret SRM repair drawings, modification instructions, and maintenance documentation such as AMM, IPC, and CMM.
- Perform sheet metal fabrication, drilling, riveting, and component replacement as required.
- Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, aviation maintenance regulations, and company safety management system (SMS) requirements.
- Maintain all tools, equipment, and assigned toolboxes in good working condition and ensure proper housekeeping in the work area.
- Document all maintenance work performed and ensure training and experience records are kept up to date.
- Assist with damage inspections, corrosion treatment, and composite repairs where required.
- Participate in and complete internal and external training courses provided by the company.
- Collaborate effectively with other maintenance teams and departments to ensure smooth workflow and task completion.
- Report safety hazards, incidents, and aircraft defects promptly to supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
- Completed apprenticeship or equivalent qualification as an Aircraft Structures / Sheet Metal Repair Mechanic, preferably within an aircraft maintenance organization.
- Possession of a Journeyman’s Certificate, OTD certification, or equivalent qualification.
- Technical qualification to MQF Level 3 in aircraft maintenance or a related field.
- Preferably experienced in ATR and/or Dash 8 aircraft types.
- Proficient in using maintenance publications such as SRM, AMM, IPC, and CMM.
- Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication, riveting, and repair techniques, including corrosion control and damage assessment.
- Fundamental engineering knowledge with practical understanding of workshop procedures and practices.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Computer literate.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
