Part 21 Head of Office of Airworthiness & Compliance Verification Engineer (Cabin Safety)

Duties and Responsibilities (Head of Office of Airworthiness):
- Ensuring that the handbook (and associated documentation) and the flight test operations manual are updated as required by Part 21 Regulations
- Manage coordination with EASA personnel for tasks pertaining to the approval of Major Changes and STC’s.
- Checking the required type design definition documents described in Part 21 Regulations and ensuring that they are provided to EASA for approval when required.
- Checking that all the compliance documents that are necessary to demonstrate compliance with the type certification basis, OSD certification basis, and environmental protection requirements are prepared and complete, and signing the documents for release.
- Providing verification to the Head of Design that all the activities that are required for the certification process have been properly completed.
- Lead & coordinate compliance verification activities & personnel.
- Approving classification, certification programmes and compliance checklists of design Changes in accordance with Part 21 Regulations.
- Monitoring of significant events on other aeronautical products as far as relevant to determine their effect on airworthiness of products being designed by the Design Organisation.
- Deputise for the Head of Design when required.
Duties and Responsibilities (Compliance Verification engineer – CVE):
- Lead compliance verification activities related to design modifications (in the field of Cabin Safety) by conducting the verification that compliance has been demonstrated with the applicable type certification basis, the applicable operational suitability data certification basis and the environmental protection requirements.
- Independently check and verify the completeness and technical accuracy of design and certification data (in the field of Cabin Safety) – including but not limited to, technical and compliance reports, test programmes, accomplishment instructions and Service Bulletins.
- Participate in aircraft design reviews with the Head of Design and other Compliance Verification Engineer(s).
- Manage compliance verification activities pertaining to witnessing and test programmes.
- Develop engineering design and substantiation documentations related to cabin-safety/interiors/structures related modifications
- Liaise with customers, operators, suppliers and manufacturers to identify optimal solutions for aircraft modification design projects.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 5 years work experience in an engineering role within an EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation is essential.
- Previous work experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer in the field of Cabin Safety is essential.
- Previous work experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer in the field of Structures (even limited to cabin interiors) will be considered an asset.
- Hold an engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
- Able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including CS-23/25/26.
- Excellent problem-solving skills – ability to analyse data accurately and objectively.
- Highly Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Proficient in CAD software.
- Ability to engage and communicate with various stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Ability to train and provide guidance to less experienced engineers in the D.O.
- Ability to work under pressure, effectively and efficiently, with minimal supervision.
- This position is fully based in Malta.
