Occupational Health and Safety Specialist


Position Overview:

The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist promotes a strong safety culture within the PART-145 maintenance department by implementing policies and procedures in compliance with legal frameworks, industry regulations, and company guidelines. In alignment with the company’s Maintenance Organization Exposition (MOE) and Safety Policies, the OHS Specialist ensures that daily operations are carried out safely, minimizing risks and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements OHS policies and procedures for PART-145 maintenance.
  • Identifies hazards and implements risk control measures.
  • Conducts risk assessments and ensures staff awareness.
  • Performs hangar walks and safety checks.
  • Ensures proper PPE use and availability.
  • Prepares safety reports and recommends improvements.
  • Participates in Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Actions, and Preventive Actions processes.
  • Provides OHS training and instructions.
  • Promotes a safety-conscious culture.
  • Supports health and safety goals and KPIs.
  • Drives continuous improvement in workplace safety.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority Act (Chapter 646 of the Laws of Malta).
  • Preferably familiar with OHS in an EASA PART-145 environment.
  • Understanding of hazardous materials in aircraft maintenance and safe handling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities.
  • Team player with leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
  • Proficient in MS Office and office management software.
  • Hands-on OHS experience.
  • Holds an MQRIC Level 5 or equivalent OHS qualification.
