Daniel Galea – Chief Operating Officer
With over 18 years’ experience in the aviation industry, Daniel has held a number of different roles ranging from the early days as an apprentice. These past years have also been characterized by various management and post holder roles within the Mediterranean Aviation Company Limited, as well numerous activities in European/African MROs (Part-145) and Training Organizations (Part-147).
Daniel is a licenced aircraft engineer and also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Malta specialising in Decision Making Techniques. Daniel lectures in the aviation field and is a visiting lecturer at the Malta College of Arts and Sciences (MCAST) – Department of Transport and Engineering. He was also appointed as an advisor by the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation with the scope of assisting with outlining the aviation policy and 2025 strategy in Malta.
Between 2005 and 2010 he was based in several outstations supporting Line Maintenance activities mainly in Tripoli, Libya and Athens, Greece for a number of years. He was then appointed as Head of Aircraft Maintenance back in 2012. A lot of energy was invested to perform accurate market research with the scope of creating a new maintenance concept for the regional turbo prop market in Malta.
He later led the introduction of the new aircraft approvals like the Bombardier Q400 and ATR series that cultivated a production-hours increase of 80 percent with sales revenue registering an overall increase of 180 percent. He was a catalyst with pushing the re-Branding exercise that evolved around the technical departments, today better known as Medavia Technics.
Since September 2018, Daniel was appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (Accountable Manager), responsible for all the technical activities within Medavia. He is married and has two children, also enjoys watching and playing football.
