Hangar Manager

Position Overview

The Hangar Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational control of all base maintenance activities within the hangar facility. Acting as the primary operational leader under the Head of Base Maintenance, the Hangar Manager ensures that all aircraft maintenance inputs are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with EASA Part-145 requirements and the organisation’s MOE.

This key leadership position within the maintenance organisation bridges strategic direction from the Head of Base Maintenance with ground-level execution by Team Leaders, Certifying/Support staff, Supervisors, and Shop Floor Personnel and is accountable for the delivery of every aircraft maintenance input from induction to release.

Key Responsibilities

• Hangar operational control, maintaining a safe, organised, and productive hangar environment at all times.
• Daily oversight of all active aircraft maintenance inputs, ensuring progress against workpacks, milestones, and delivery commitments.
• Aircraft delivery and turnaround performance, meeting customer-agreed delivery dates and managing recovery where delays arise.
• Shift coverage and labour distribution across all active projects, ensuring appropriate resource deployment at all times.
• Manpower allocation between concurrent aircraft inputs, in coordination with the Planning Manager.
• Coordination of shared services resources including avionics, structures, cabin, and other specialist support, to meet production requirements.
• Ensuring all maintenance is carried out in accordance with approved data, MOE procedures, and applicable airworthiness requirements.
• Safety management and FOD control across the hangar facility.
• Participation in and support of internal and external compliance audits; coordination of corrective actions arising.
• Coordination with the Head of Base Maintenance on contractor requirements, and resource escalations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within an EASA Part-145 approved maintenance organisation.
• Strong working knowledge of EASA Part-145 regulatory requirements and MOE obligations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent aircraft maintenance inputs in a hangar environment.
• Experience leading and developing teams of certifying staff and maintenance technicians.
• Effective communication skills, able to engage clearly with customers, regulators, and workforce.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills under operational pressure.
• 8 Year Experience in base / heavy maintenance within an EASA Approved Organisation.
• EASA Part-66 licence (Category B1, B2, or C) with relevant aircraft type ratings would be considered an asset.
• Previous experience acting as a focal point during NAA or customer audits would be considered an asset.
